New Ring Central App - Changing Default Outbound Caller ID Number Only Possible From App

Our company mostly uses RC PHONE app for all of our RingCentral needs (which is being retired sometime at the of end 2020).
We are starting to transition to the new RINGCENTRAL APP and we noticed that the New RingCentral App defaults to the "Main Company Number" for outbound calls.

Previously the admin was able to go into Users > *select user* > Outbound Calls and Faxes > Caller ID  and set the default choice of which phone number will display as Caller ID for outgoing calls.

There is no setting in there to control the default for the New RingCentral App...
You have to have each end user go into the app itself (Settings > Phones > Caller ID) to make the change.

This feature is going to save a lot of confusion and training for those in the same circumstance as our company is; transitioning from an retiring app and being forced to use a new app with MANY different features.

Hi Brittney,

This is possible today. 

Navigate to Users > *select user* > Outbound Calls/ Faxes > Caller ID > Additional Desktop App.

And select the number you want as the default outbound caller-ID for the user.


You can also use Templates to edit the exact same setting if you wish to apply the direct number as the outbound caller ID for all your users on the new RC app.

That only works for older versions of the RingCentral apps... 
By default my Additional Desktop App setting for all users was "Direct Line" but after installation and login to the NEW RingCentral App it defaulted to "Main Line Number" for all users. 

RingCentral Support said the feature isn't currently available to set the default from the Admin Portal for the New RingCentral App.

I just tested this and it works for the New RingCentral App.

If you want to set a direct number as the outbound Caller ID for a specific user. Go to Users > *select user* > Outbound Calls/ Faxes > Caller ID > Additional Desktop App and set it. It would reflect on the new RingCentral app as the default outbound Caller ID. Note that the user has to logout and login for the changes to be reflected.

If you want to set the user's direct number as the outbound Caller ID for all your users, create a user settings template and go to Outbound > Caller ID > Additional Desktop App > Edit > Select "User's Direct Number"
Ensure that "Over ride user settings" has been checked ONLY for this option(Image attached )


Please note that anywhere else within the template, DO NOT check "Over ride user settings". Note that the user has to logout and login for the changes to be reflected.

Apply the template to the users.
