Option to choose main RingCentral number as outbound ID for SMS

  1. Account type:  U.S.
  2. Insurance company 
  3. I want my SMS recepients to see my main number - 7043695270 instead of my Digital Line
  4. This would allow my customers to call the main number which has its own call handling rules instead of calling my direct line
  5. Callers will be routed to the correct person
  6. 06240056
  7. 8 user extensions, 1 Digital Line
I was able to do it before. Not sure if updates to the app took that option away.

Hi, Shirazi,
This should be available from within the RingCentral for Windows application, when your users choose "compose text", there's a pulldown menu labeled "Caller ID" just under the "To:" line, and in our environment, we can choose our individual extension (Direct Number) , or the Main Company Number.

Glen, that works with phone calls, but not texting. We need our main number to show on the outbound SMS as well, instead of our direct lines.

Really frustrating because for several months this was actually working and we could text from our extensions and have the main SMS ID come through.  IT worked great.   Then it disappeared.  So clearly the developers HAD it working.

Currently, the option to choose one of the main company numbers as your SMS outbound Caller ID is available only if you are logged into a RingCentral Phone app with the Operator Extension. See our guide on Choosing the SMS Caller ID when Sending a Text Message for details on this feature.
