While dialing a number for an outbound call, if a prolonged timing feature can be added so that it does not automatically time out and end the call before I am done inputting the number that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
All VoIP carriers have "hotkey" phones. That is, where you can take your time entering the phone number you are dialing first, before grabbing dial tone. Now it's not indefinite, so it won't help those who take an abnormal amount of time to enter a phone number.
I would show your users how to pre-dial. I usually explain it as being the same way you use a mobile phone- dial the number first, edit if necessary, then press dial/send/start to initiate the call. On my Polycom VVX it gives 45 seconds before timing out this way.
What type of phone(s) are you using anyway? There is likely a way to adjust the timer, but it may not be worth the effort required.
