I have a Cisco 303 for my business. When we are on a line the phone does not ring, and the only way we know someone is calling in is because we see the other lines  flashing, how do we get it to ring when you are on another line?

I don't think any model rings when you're on the phone. It just flashes and provides call waiting.

They must not of had all business industries in mind when creating these phones.

I do not know any model of phone that rings when you are already in a call, is not practical to have the phone ringing and disturbing you while you are in a call. Is like when you are in a call and someone wants to give you a message, usually should pass a note to you or whisper the message...
I do not think is a technical issue, is more for common sense (from my point of view).

We are a service business and rely on phone calls for potential customers, the old traditional business phone system like Merlin did ring when you had an incoming call. We have 2 phones set up so that we can here an incoming call, It would make common sense to have a system where you can either a turn on a ringer or add an extension speaker to hear the ring. I total concur with your comment if we were in an office environment, however as a service business we welcome the interruption.

Hi Paul, What kind of call volume are you experiencing, and how many people do you have available to answer the phone?  Would it make sense to set up a call queue or RingGroup to provide the customers a better experience?

We do some but sporadic, at times a couple of lines will light up all at once and then nothing for a bit. I use 1 person to answer the phones, we are a local towing company and to use queues would mot work, the police departments and local customers who need emergency service would just hang up and call someone next.

Hi Paul,  We'll leave this post up as a new feature request. So that our Product Team better understands your need can you provide a more details description and expand on the following things?

1.       A
brief description of the business

2.       A
high level description of the product or feature being requested

3.       A
typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature

4.       Benefit
of such feature

In this case a Ring Group I thing is the best option for you, because you can pick the second incoming call from one extension...

1.       1.       A brief description of the business

Towing and Roadside Assistance Company. We service AAA, The General Public and various Police agencies.

2.
2.       A high level description of the product or feature being requested
We would like to request that it be an option to have line 2, 3, 4, 5 etc ring when you have an incoming call. The feature can be as simple as pushing a button similar to do not disturb.

3.
3.       A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
It would assist us in knowing when someone is calling in. Our dispatchers have lost several calls because they are typing on a computer taking a call, and therefore not paying attention to see if the other lines are flashing, so if they ringed made a sound etc. it would alert them to the incoming call.

4.       Benefit of such feature

In our industry the local consumer who calls usually in most cases needs service at that very moment, and similar to the local police agencies that we service they give it a 3 ring hang up and go to the next company on the rotational tow list. By having such a feature it would really help us cut down on lost call/ customers.

Paul, we have Sales department that needs to answer right away for the same reason like you, the potential customer, if not get the answer, they call someone else... so what works for us is using the feature Ring Groups: when we have a Sales representative attending one call, if a second (or 3rd, 4th,...) comes in, the other phones keep ringing in the available sales guys... then, if all the guys are busy in a call, just then the incoming call goes into the second line, making the light blinking in all the phones...

we only have 1 phone in dispatch, will it work, because what you are saying is that I should have a second phone just to hear a ring. If that works then great, but adding another station/ expense it will not. Even if when you got a call you would hear a beep like call waiting, that would help. Thanks Claudio

As far I know, you do not need to add a second digital line (expense) just add other extension with phone and create a Ring Group with these two extensions...
