Hello

Has anybody tried playing you tube videos over RC Meetings?  We have tried this a couple of times and whilst the screen share works with the content, there is no sound playing?

Is this something anybody else has tried and if so did you get it to work?  Or is it a restriction in place?

Thanks

Stewart

Stewart,

I had never tried it before but I experimented with it and I received the same result you did. I could see the video but did not get the audio from it. There's no setting on the RIngCentral side and I can't advise if there's anything on the YouTube side which would prevent it from occurring.

Stewart Ross,

What you are describing is normal for every web meeting software application that I've seen.  When you  share a youtube video or other similar video, you are not actually sharing the original media, rather you are sharing a screen capture.  As far as the audio goes you are hearing the playback from the video, but there's no audio input from the video back into the meeting. (unless you do something simple like have an extra microphone that you can put next to the speaker).   Or, you could also try calling into the RC Meeting via telephone, and then get a cable similar to below and run it from the audio out, into the microphone input

I have not personally tested this on an RC Meeting, so can't guarantee the result, but have done this with other web/meeting apps in the past.

For anyone looking for a solution to this still, RC/Zoom has implemented a feature in screen sharing to allow for the audio of a video through a checkbox when you start the screen share features:

If you're in a conference room this can be a bit tricky when shared from a laptop in a room, still working on figuring that out but we are pretty sure we've figured that out too.

But at least for sharing a video's audio into a conference this part works great!
