I don't have a release date yet, but our product team has been working on this and will likely have a configurable timer.

I do not want the session timer on my Ring Central.  It is inconvenient and disruptive to my daily tasks.  Remove it of come up with a way to control, disable or delete the feature.

Having the session timer is very inconvenient to our business because of the fact that we check the website all day but not necessary every minute. Having to log in to the website after the session has ended is time consuming and not ideal at all.

We are consistantly being logged off after the non activity.  We (admins) keep this up all day to ensure that nothing is going wrong with the system and or call queue as well as calls being missed.  This is a pain in the butt to always have to log into this throughout the day when we consistently need access to the Call Log screen.  There is NO security information that needs to be protected like on a bank account, from a hacker etc.  This is crazy, takes so much more time then it used to just refreshing the call log screen. This is a waste of time that me and other admins could be working on many other issues for our customers.

Just a thought- You can probably keep it open and 'alive' by using a browser addon that 'auto-refreshes' - there are a variety of options available, but a quick google search showed this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/easy-auto-refresh/aabcgdmkeabbnleenpncegpcngjpnjkc?hl=en This could be a good temporary workaround until their devs fix it.

Good news everybody.  The feature to change the session timer has been released.  Just log in as an Admin, and click Tools > Session Timeout, and you'll see a drop-down menu like below. For security reasons, it can not be completely disabled, but it will allow you to go up to 24 hours.   If you need the full detailed instructions visit: Configuring RingCentral Online Account Session Timeout

Shoudn't the system administrator be able to determine if there is a security issue regarding completely disabling the session timeout feature?  In my company 3 executives use this feature on their home office phones.  Having them log in and log out everyday is time consuming.  Also, if a session is automatically timed out the user will not be aware until they try to use the phone.  I really hope that an option can be created to completely disable to the session timeout feature.

Hi Joseph,   I'll look into this again.  This thread is fairly old so I'm not sure anything has changed.  I'll post an update as soon as I find out.

Hi Joseph,  It doesn't look like there are any plans on the road-map to chance this. But can you clarify the issue with your phone. The settings above are for the web portal.  They don't affect your softphone.   Or, are you using the RingOut option from the web portal?   If so, then you'll probably want to download the desktop app to initiate calls on instead, as it will be much more convenient and functional.

I need to be able to extend the automatic time out to more than 15 mins.  My operator answer a call that takes 15-20 mins.  When they hang up they need to log back into RC to check if any calls have been missed.  They are being required to log in to the RC account up to 30 times in an eight hour shift.    Please let me know how to extent the 15 min timeout.

I understand that an inactive user is taking resources from the system, however the 5 minute timeout presently in place is doesn't work very well for us. It is very inconvenient and is time consuming.
Please set the timeout function back to the original setting.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Keep Accounts Logged In - Remove Auto Log Off Feature.

We are now being logged off our Ring Central after a short period of no activity. We use our accounts throughout the work day and it is very frustrating to have to keep logging back on every time customer service needs to make a call or check the logs. There is no security information that needs to be protected on our accounts that makes this feature relevant or of value to us. It's just a hassle. At very least, there should be an option for companies to turn off the Auto Log Off if they want to.
