Thanks for your attention Mike. Specifically, managing greetings requires the use of Flash.

I was able to use an alternate browser (Safari) as a workaround this time.

Flash is a security nightmare and unsafe.  Any app requiring flash should be avoided.

Flash is dying, and is a security risk. We have a small team currently using RingCentral and a few of its competitors, and will be picking one for a company-wide rollout. The use of Flash could be a deal breaker for us, given the security issues. I have to imagine there are many companies in our shoes, too.

Yep, and for the record, Java is even worse, because it not only has security flaws, but it is a huge resource pig.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Get rid of Flash.

It's long past time for RingCentral to get rid of Flash in their web portal. Flash is a dead technology which was lousy even in its heyday.
I have to keep Flash Player on my Mac *just* to be able to use the online portal. Not good.
Is there any estimate on when a new portal will be released that doesn't rely on an outdated, leaky, unsafe piece of software?

Also note: the Flash requirement pop up recommends a minimum of version 11.x. At least do your clients a favor and tell them to upgrade to the latest version. If you're using Flash 11, you're asking for trouble.

As a potential customer, who recently signed up to a live demo of Ring Central's capabilities and after testing my connection, to join said demo, being told that i needed to install flash is very disappointing.

companies that support flash are dropping like flies (and for good reason, security being primary), now is certainly not the time to implement a system that relies on a redundant plugin.

Its very unfortunate but the use of Flash is a deal breaker.

Luke,  Can you tell us specifically what webinar you signed up for, and the web page or how/where you signed up?   I'd like to look into this. Depending on the audience, we sometimes use 3rd party systems.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back, the webinar is for the 6th April, judging from URL it is mostly a 3rd party provider, apologies for having jumped the gun. I received the following email after registration:

And having clicked on the above link, the following error appeared:

Thank you for taking the time to address this issue

You're welcome, and thanks for posting the info above.  It's always good to double-check. We've recently converted several pages to HTML5 and I wanted to make sure there wasn't something still hanging out there.  Thanks!

I hope you told them.   Javascript is the way to go, and there are plenty of fantastic commercial development kits, some even royalty free/open source.

In our ui we no longer have any of the old flash components as they've been replaced with html5 (thanks ringcentral!) and I haven't seen that warning for a long time with any of our clients either. I'm not sure where you are seeing this, but I agreee with you 100% and while flash should have died long ago, just thought I'd encourage you that RC is taking this seriously and outing flash even if it was a bit overdue in many of our opinions.
