It is very important that RC provides a way to import contacts to PolyCom phones (Like VVX500). PolyCom says it is very possible but must be done through the Boot Server (Ring Central end). Please copy my personal contacts from my extension to my Phone (or give me access to the directory file so i can change it)!

Or at the very very very least, give me access to the directory file so I can import my contacts myself. PLEASE!?!?!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Contacts: synchronize with IP Phones.

I would like to have a feature to synchronize the contact list with our IP Phones in the office, similarly as the SoftPhone.

A brief description of the business: The Financial Freedom Mastermind Limited is supporting 100 individuals in creating another income to allow them to quit their day job or quit their self-employment and never need to employ themselves to survive again.  In addition to this we have a community of over 20000 who have expressed an interest in what we are doing.

A high level description of the product or feature being requested: The ability to automatically synchronise personal contacts in RingCentral to our physical\hard phones.

A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature: The ability to synchronise contacts form the RingCentral personal contacts location to hard phones like your latest Polycom VVX 500 allows businesses to quickly call customers and answer calls with recognition and create closeness with the customer.

Benefit of such feature: Most importantly, Close prospects faster, build customer relationships and retain customers for much longer. Secondly, save time on manually entering data and re-allocating the resource to closing more sales.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Synchronise a Google Contact Group with RC Personal Contacts.

This is critical feature.  What is the purpose of a personal contacts list if they do not show up on the phone?
Dear RingCentral Admin
You have merged "Integrate into Google Contacts and fetch contacts in a specific group and add them into personal contacts in RC" in to this topic of "sync personal contacts to physical phone" and are avoiding the specific request to Integrate Google Contacts!

Topic is found here: https://community.ringcentral.com/ringcentral/topics/synchronise-google-contacts-with-rc-personal-contacts

This is separate functionality and is almost certainly a separate piece of development!  It is a valid idea and I would appreciate it being returned to a separate topic for specific evaluation and comment.

Specific request: Please re-open the above topic for comment?

I personally do not appreciate my request being minimised and very potentially ignored as a valid feature request.

Very un-impressed

We would love this feature for our company as well!  Easier to enter the information on the Desktop App rather than the small window of the phone using keypad and arrows.  I didn't know it would not work and I spent the time this morning adding the contacts to the Desktop App expecting them to be added to the phone.  Nothing! We do not use the Desktop App here in the office we use the Google App to retrieve faxes.

Yes. Please allow us to synchronize contacts through the portal to the desk phones.  Inputting the same business contacts into each phone of our system, manually, stinks!

We have just signed up to Ringcentral and I would of thought that in this day and age this feature would have been implemented a few years ago. We need this for our business ASAP
Im with you, this need to be sorted out ASAP

Simon, Ring central has a slightly different approach with handling contacts.  Of course you could upload contacts to the personal section and they will be available for your user.

If you are looking for shared contacts that all your Ring central users could use then using the virtual extensions is the way to go.  RC gives 1000 per account so they could be used in this way.

Then assigned to phones using the presence feature.

How many users in your setup?  and how many contacts are you thinking about?

But we need to see them on our physical deck phones. We do not use the pc for communication. I can't see how setting up  VE is going to help.

As we grow as a company we will need more extensions and have more contacts using the VE will use these up.

We NEED our contacts on our physical phone as well as on the web portal.

Why not have it synced with google contacts/outlook/Apple.....

They could be assigned to the phones once they are created.  The whole ring central system has access. Computer,, soft phone, IP phone they all will have access

I have lots of customers who wants this feature added. Adding contacts on the online account and synchronizing it to the Desk phone is convenient.  Hope this will be implemented soon.

@RC-InstallerChuck can you provide specific instructions once contacts are imported to Personal online account how I can then sync them to our desktop Polycoms?

Hi Linsey, I am assuming you want this for speed dials correct?  If that is the case then using the personal contacts will not work

Creating virtual extensions and then assigning to phones is the way to go.

let me know if this is your goal and then I could give instructions for it.

Yes, exactly. For Speed Dials/Contact Directory onto the Polycom desk phone. If you have instructions, that would be great!

ok, You have a few options.  First would be how many speed dials you have.  10 or 20 no big deal, after that you would want RC to upload them to your account to make life easier.

But what needs to be done is create a bunch of virtual extensions say in the 300 range
Then you will need to activate each one by assigning the password, PIN and security question.  I usually make them all the same for simplicity
then in the call handling field you could put the number you want the system to dial in there.

Turn off unnecessary features, like music on hold, voice mail and greetings.  templates are good for this.

Now that you have an extension you could assign to the phones using presense.  If the number changes, then once you make the edit it will be changed for all that are using it.

Does this make sense?

I would like to be able to do this in my office. Would love to be able to have a group of contacts loaded into the phones. I am struggling to understand the process though. Could I have some direct assistance? Sometimes it will populate a name from a stored contact but not always.

Well what was confusing to me was that some numbers do ring through with a contact name that it must get from the contacts we have uploaded and stored in ring central from the website. We have never manually entered anything into the phones. As of right now I am unclear.

It seems the only way input contacts on our physical Polycom VX411 phones is for each user to add them through the phone itself, one by one.  This is cumbersome and very inefficient.  I hope Ring Central is working on this.

great, it would be a great help to be able to input a contact on my softphone and have it pushed to my deskset as well.
