Puerto Rico Calling should be local and not international

Calls being placed to Puerto Rico 787 should be considered as a "local call or free" since it is a Territory of the United States along with the US Virgin Islands. This feature change will help me being able to market RingCentral as a competitor to line 2 and vonage. Your consideration of this feature change would be greatly appreciated.

I am having these same issues and if there is no solution soon I will be looking for a new company soon. I met the RingCentral Team at Reinvent and they suggested this note be placed here for higher visibility. Please advise if this is in the 2017 roadmap.

I have posted this request a year ago and I have not seen feedback from Ring Central. Is there anyone that can escalate this with their development team? I appreciate Victor the feedback.

HI Anthony,  This forum is the correct place to request things of this nature. We send regular reports for feature requests to our Product Team. The best thing to do is for everyone to comment and use the voting buttons here on the Community for features you would like to see.

Mike, can we please get an update on this topic. Also, how do we get this escalated. We appreciate the workflow information however it would be nice to know where we stand. My first post was 4 months ago and I'm about to pull the plug and switch to Vonage that does offer local calling. Please advise ASAP

Hi Victor,  I wish I could give you an ETA on this but I can't say if, or when this will happen.  This community is the primary source for collecting feature requests, and we currently have over 1300 open requests. There as a somewhat complicated prioritization and planning process that our product team must go through just to get something on the road map for the future.

I'm not trying to discourage, or disappoint you  but this thread is over a year old and only has 3 votes. So, it's not nearly as high on the radar as many other requests.  I don't personally have a way to escalate such an issue, but I do report regularly to our product team.  The best way to get something on the radar is to get a lot of votes and have more users comment and provide use case scenarios and explain how it would benefit their business.

So.. anyone else who would like to see this, please vote and comment and tell us a little about your business, number of users, DLs etc.

I hope this helps.

Hi Mike, unfortunately not many people use this forum to communicate their desires or ideas. The impacts seen are users leaving to other competitors without even know why. I would suggest just looking at demographics and how current industry standards are with the applicability of including PR/USVI as a local calling area would make good sense.

This is an issue for my business also. We can receive calls but not make an outgoing call.

I agree here as well.  Customers can call in, which is fine, but I need to be able to call them back! PR  and USVI should be included.  My alternative is my cell phone, but reception in my office STINKS, which is the whole purpose of being able to use a landline. :/

Is there any traction on this? How does the RC community find out about the product road map for these kinds of features?

HI Alex, I attend regular meetings and have regular contact with members of our product team. So, if a request here on the Community makes the roadmap, we'll change the status of the request.  Anything that has very little traction or low demand will sit with a "no status".  Then once an item has enough votes and comments to be considered we'll change it to "under consideration" or "planned" if we know that they are actually going to release such a feature.  Occasionally there are requests that will simply never make to to production so those would of course be marked "not planned".  Last, once something has actually been pushed to the customer base, we'll change the status to "implemented"

You can also search topics by "status" by use the "advanced" search feature like shown here.

Hi Mike, Thanks for replying.  Where can I see if this is a request?  And where can I see the status of it?  I'm new to the forums and the like and I'm just trying to understand

All Feature Requests are labeled "ideas".  Once a status has been added you'll see it like shown here.

I think it is ridiculous that calls to PR are treated as international calls. I work for an agency seeking to provide support to people displaced by Hurricane Maria, and it really gets under my skin that people who have already survived so much are facing one more injustice.

Has this been corrected? This is completely ridiculous that Puerto Rico isn't included with local calling.

Please fix ASAP.

Well, they need to get this handled, or else I will be switching to another VoIP provider. Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory and there should be no reason as to why I can't call PR. There are also many mainlanders moving there, so this needs to get fixed. Thank you.

Just came across this issue with one of our Veterinary Clients. They are consulting with another vet and received the message that they cannot call the number back. After digging into the issue I had to tell my client that they would have to use their cell phones to call back the number.

They didn't even realize the other Vet was in Puerto Rico as it was just a consult call for help with an Orthopedic case.

Folks, I’m one of the founders of this inquiry. I had been chasing this since 2016. I paid my bill for over a year without using my account. Waiting for positive results. I even met up with the Ring Central team at Las Vegas and chatted with them. Given the poor response, I’ve been a happy Vonage user ever since.. I was surprised to see this forum still alive.i personally don’t think it’s worth spending energy and waiting around.

After Hurricane Irma lots of Puertoricans moved to US and we can't call us but with area code 787 and 939 is impossible to call them because Ringcentral doesn't have this capability. We have a separate line from 8x8 which provides this local calls because those numbers are in US even if the area code in from Puerto Rico, which by the way is part of US.
I cannot believe that PR calls cannot be received or sent. Definitely looking at changing off Ringcentral due to this issue. We moved to RingCentral and are paying much more than our previous company and have LESS services.

It's pretty absurd that PR is considered international. It is the same country code, and it is a part of the US. Even Google Voice treats it as free, and that product is completely free. Anytime I need to call my PR customers, I have to switch over to gmail.
