I know RingCentral still hasn't figured out SMS all of the way. We still can't participate in group messages that we don't start, and it still takes 72 hours for SMS to be activated on numbers when every other carriers activate this almost instantly. But it would be wise for RingCentral to be first to market to enable RCS in their system. RCS is an open technology and would enable a lot of features that are missing even from the app formarly known as glip, such as read receipts, that would be very useful to businesses. Google is now activating this on all mobile phones running Android, which is ~87% of the global market meaning comparability is going to be fairly universal soon. This is my thought at least.
