We have mutual customers that are looking to secure access to Ring Central apps to authorized users within their environments. Duo manages and applies this check based on among other factors, information gained from the user's User Agent (UA) string in the access request. For Ring Central's mobile and desktop apps we find that the UA is often not RFC7231 complaint causing our checks to fail and hence end users being blocked from gaining access to Ring Central.

Our request, on behalf of our mutual customers, is that the User-Agent string that Ring central apps send during HTTPS requests and to the SAML identity provider (IdP) during SAML Webview requests be RFC 7231-compliant. Based on RFC 7231 specifications, the User-Agent string need to adhere to the following format:
Ring Central Apps/<ringcentral-app-version> (<long-form-operating-system>)
For example, Ring Central Apps/4.1.2-2 (Apple Mac OS X 10.13.3) or Ring Central Apps/4.1.2-2 (Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise, 64-bit)

This will greatly help our mutual customers get greater value out of our individual products. Please contact us for any technical follow-up questions and customer references at manu@duo.com.

Thank you!
