Please do not install RingCentral for Windows in the C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local directory!  It is being flagged as malware because this is a non-standard location to install executable programs.

I believe it was made to install there so that non-Admin users could install the desktop app without having Admin rights. We have a bunch of users that have the executable there, and noticed it because when we started trying to manage deployment and versioning using Systems Center Configuration Manager we end up with two RC Desktop icons on the desktop - the MSI version writes to Program Files as you would expect, so it isn't overwriting or removing the per-user install version. We aren't sure yet how to clean up that mess...

Yeah, bypassing UAC is probably not a good idea.  It also trains non-admin users to do something that is counter to good security.

Offering the standard dialog of choosing an install location, IMHO, would be the best course of action.  Something that has been available for decades!
