RingCentral Meetings: always needs to be downloaded and run?

Whenever one of my users joins a Ring Central Meeting from a Link in an email or calendar invite it takes him to his browser where he has to download and run the app - even though he has RC meetings installed on his machine - any idea why? Does something in the browser prevent Ring Central from just starting up.

Does it make them re-download it?  It will take you to the web browser - then the app will launch automatically after a few seconds.
