Ring Central Office publishes the personal contact information for all users in the company address book, including legal and administrative personnel's personal contact information that should never be seen by any other users in the same company, and we cannot disable that serious privacy breach in the Ring Central applications. Standard users should not even know that these people exist, but they can all see the contact information for everybody. Even worse, since ring Central requires a non-Ring Central phone number for the Super Admin user, and that user info is published in the company phone book and cannot be hidden, our primary administrator's personal information is seen by all users who should never have any direct access to that person's contact information in the first place. We even tried to set up multiple sites with the legal and administrative contacts in the second site, but all of that information is still published in the company address book that is visible to everybody.

We need a way to hide specific users from the company address book, or disable specific users' access to the company address book via a custom role, or turn off the company address book completely if those other two options cannot be accomplished.

Since Ring Central is now being used by government personnel for communication with outside contractors, etc. this is now becoming a security breach situation much like Cambridge Analytical was with Facebook last year, just on a smaller scale.

Can we please have a way to hide specific users from the company address book, or restrict access to the company address book via a custom role?

Thank you!

1) Ring Central Office Standard and Premium

2) Business type: Project management for State and local government officials communicating with outside contractors to collaborate on projects such as road construction, environmental impact engineers, etc.

3) We need a way to hide specific users from the company address book, or disable specific users' access to the company address book via a custom role, or turn off the company address book completely if those other two options cannot be accomplished.

4) Business use: State and local government officials communicating with outside contractors to collaborate on projects such as road construction, environmental impact engineers, etc.  None of the government officials who have extensions on the Ring Central phone system should be visible to the project managers that will be using extensions of the same phone system that they use.  The project managers should only ever see the contact info for their point of contact who uses an extension on the same phone system.  This is a serious legal and privacy issue.

5) This would protect both the customer of Ring Central from legal and privacy issues and law suits, and also it would protect Ring Central from the bad publicity and loss of business that would ultimately result from any such legal and privacy concerns or lawsuits.

6) Number of users that are known to be affected so far: just over 1500 RC Office customers that we interact with throughout the US, but there are probably many more than that since there are many similar requests in this forum.  We have added 25 users to our account, bringing the total for us up to 30 users.

There are quite a few requests for hiding certain entries in the company directory and I keep voting for them.  This one seems to lay out the best reasons for requiring the ability to exclude users.  The only thing our legal team has done is to block themselves from being seen via Presence, as this feature will also give users the ability to see who the legal staff is currently on a call with (via HUD or Favorites).
