Ring my desk phone first, then my mobile ringcentral app

So here's my problem.

The RingCentral app on the iPhone is great, because it is connected the phone system, making transferring very easy, parking calls, etc.

The problem is that I only see a setting to ring the app on the smarphone FIRST. I want the deskphone to ring, and then after a certain number of rings, ring the mobile app on my smartphone.

I can make it so that it rings the office first, but then when it "fowards" the call to my phone, it just rings like a normal number, and doesn't ring the mobile app. So if I need to transfer or park a call, I can't.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Under "Call Handling & Forwarding"- then "SoftPhones & Smartphones", change Wait
"0"   rings before forwarding begins.  Then you can add your cell phone as the 2nd phone to ring after "X" no of rings.

Marc,

Not even close. Please read my post. Forwarding a phone that way rings to your actual phone number, and not the RingCentral app.

Got it....  Sorry - I just want it to ring my cell.  It would be interesting to find out how to solve your issue though

Hi everyone,

Regrettably, the functionality you're asking for is not currently available from our system. We've been looking at how to enable this, and it will take a bit of time before we can support this feature.

Unfortunately we cannot provide a timeline on when the feature will be available, but rest assured that we're actively looking at this issue.

Regards,
Vi

Bummer, it's turning out to be quite a big problem for some people. It seems like basic functions are still not available with RingCentral.

Hi Ashlynn,  I changed this topic to an "idea" so others can click the like button above. This way others can chime in if they are interested and we can get a better idea of demand.

Thank you! I understand that this may also be an actual cell phone device issue too. There should be some sort of integration of this app with phones to allow a separate ringtone to be assigned, if that is even possible.

We actually have an existing Idea topic for this request. Please visit the following page, add comments,  and click the like button  Can the ringtone be changed for the mobile app?

I don't have an iPhone (the following works on my Android phone) but I can easily accomplish this by doing the following:
Under "Call Handling & Forwarding"- then "SoftPhones & Smartphones", turn OFF the Desktop Apps & SmartPhones. Then list your desk phone first under call handling, followed by your mobile/cell phone. Make certain that you have "Sequential" selected.

I have done this on my phone (iPhone) before, but it was call forwarding. Are you using the app or just call forwarding to your cell phone with these settings? Our customer does have Android phones, but they also need to call out from their cell app, so call forwarding to the cell will not work for them.

I do both. I forward the call to my cell phone with those settings. If I need to call out, I simply open the RingCentral app on my phone and call out from it.

Having said the above, if for some reason I would want to use the RingCentral application to take the call (i.e., to use WiFi for the call or the like), I can accept the call, ask the caller to hold for a quick moment, and then put it on hold (##). I can then park the call (*3). It will tell me what extension it is saved to (i.e., *817). I can then start the RingCentral mobile app and go to the phone pad. I enter *817 (example above) then press the green phone key to "initiate" the call. It will pick up my parked call and I am then using the RC mobile app for the call.

Okay, so when you get an incoming call, and you are out with your cell phone, does it still ring on the app? I may have to try this...

This customer doesn't want calls on a personal cell phone, but through the app. They just want it to ring after their desk phone, like it can ring before the desk phone. They would not want to go through all those steps to take a call from the RC app.

No...I don't have it ring through on the app because it is just easier for me to have it ring to my cell phone. I have mountains in my area and I often get better cell service with the call than having it ring through the RC app.

I can understand what your client needs and I can appreciate it. But it seems to me (at least for my use) that it really doesn't matter whether it comes through the app or forwarded to my cell phone. The call information is all "recorded" in the call log no matter what. Then I always use the RC mobile app to make outgoing calls.

That is exactly what we have said that they could do with the app! =) But some need it to be just the way they prefer! I may do this with our system though and demonstrate to the customer how it works this way, perhaps they will accept it. Thank you so much for your feedback!

You're very welcome. That's the way I show my clients and they all use it the way I do...and like it that way too.

We'd like this feature in our organization of 15+ as well.
