RingCentral Rooms with an Polycom conference phone

Among the recommended hardware for RC rooms is the Polycom 7000. In the conference room where we plan to deploy RC rooms, we have an existing Polycom 5000. I had hoped that RC rooms would allow me to associate an extension/phone with the room; and that it would automatically connect/ring said phone when I start a meeting from the iPad.

Is this possible or am I stuck adding a USB mic/speaker or manually dialing the conference phone?

Hi Joe,  Sorry for the delay.  I had one of our engineers review this. Let me know if this helps.

they could do manually configure a Polycom Trio 8800 and hook up the USB to the Mac Mini and manually configure it to be able to dial out to the PSTN

OR they could get a Revolabs UC 1500 and manually configure. Neither device is fully supported though

In Addition....
our Rooms system currently does not support neither Polycom 5000 nor Polycom 7000.  So they will need to use a different AV system or dial in every time with the conference phone separately.

We have deployed 7 Ringcentral Rooms with the Yamaha RevoLabs (Yamaha YVC-1000) and the call quality is just not as good as the Polycom speaker phone that is already in the room.  It seems to be a natural to add a feature to Ringcentral rooms app to be able to identify the conference phone already in the room and call that phone when you join the meeting from the iPad.  this woudl make this a killer solution.  Any plans to do this?

Hello msher,

Please see the response below:
Our Rooms DO support newer versions of Polycom conference phones, such as Trio models.  Unfortunately majority of the conference phones are IP phones which are not equivalent to an AV system that Rooms require.  Why Trio can work with Rooms is because Trio has an additional device called A/V Plus which allows the Trio to integrate with room video and content sharing solutions.

I still think it would be a no-brainer to add the call me feature to the Rooms app in the same way its used in RC Meetings.
