As RingCentral continues to make strides in the financial and healthcare services industries, compliance with regulations governing the security and protection of data remains one of our top priorities. Today, we announced another step forward by achieving compliance in security controls established by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) for cloud providers. In addition, RingCentral has earned Certified status for information security by the Health Information Trust (HITRUST) Alliance.
FINRA, a private corporation that acts as a self-regulatory organization for member brokerage firms and exchange markets, ensures more than 4,200 organizations remain compliant. Through compliance with FINRA security controls, RingCentral financial customers, including banks, brokers, and traders, can trust that RingCentral Office and Glip meet regulatory requirements for security and reliability.
Similarly, with the HITRUST CSF Certified status, RingCentral meets key healthcare regulations and requirements for protecting and securing sensitive private healthcare information. HITRUST CSF Certified status indicates that RingCentral Office has met industry-defined requirements and is appropriately managing risk, alongside an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification.
What does this mean for RingCentral customers?
To help our customers comply with national financial services requirements governing the collection and use of individuals’ data, we have taken the necessary steps to provide compliant and secure communications.
All RingCentral call recordings, call logs, fax exchanges, SMS, MMS, audio and web conferencing, and Glip chat messages meet the cybersecurity controls of FINRA, and our technology is suitable for financial parties doing business in the US.
By including federal and state regulations, standards, and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.
The latest compliance with FINRA and HITRUST CSF certification is in addition to our existing HIPAA compliance, which ensures that sensitive health information is protected.
Security has been a key component of our platform since day one. As we continue to work with a wide variety of customers across all industries, we’re committed to offering a secure, reliable, and compliant communications platform.
