By the way the same could be considered for inbound text messages too.

Note: This topic was created from a reply on the Route faxes directly to an extension. topic.

Although the text message may have to be done by including the ext # at the beginning of the text.

Hi Steven,

Looks like we might already have a feature request for this.

So a user sends a text message to a department extension. You, as one of the people in the department, get this business SMS text and want to reply to it. But, you want to reply privately.

Is this the correct scenario?

Thanks.

Not quite the correct scenario. Today if I understand correctly I someone FAXes or SMS to my main number it is going to go to what ever department acts as the Operator in the setup. Which most of the time is OK. However sometimes I get messages especially faxes that I need to receive directly in my case it would HR stuff for one of my Insurance groups it is contracts that need to get to the specific sales person. It is these specific messages and faxes that it would be nice to have them sent directly to the appropriate user. Example faxes can be sent with the extension number from most fax systems (main number x105) and in a text we might have to add the extension before the body of the message x105 - ...message...

Got it!

So you'd like a prompt (or some type of feature) to allow the user to fax to the main number and then type in an extension so that the fax goes to a specific user instead of the entire department?

Thanks.

I've just submitted this as a feature idea and will keep you posted via this post as I find out more.
