For example in our case we deal with many customers that are in Latin America and as such many of the names have accents. It's not uncommon for see things such as:
My suggestion consists in searching for the accents of the letters (especially on the vowels) when entering a name. In the case of "andres" the results would be "andres" and "andrés".
Benefits? This would speed up the searches even more and for users that manage hundreds or thousands of names on their address book it makes a big difference.
PS: You have the app that integrates with Salesforce. Create two accounts in Salesforce: one called "Andres" and another called "Andrés" (accent on the "e"). Search for "andres" and you'll notice that both accounts will show up.
