  • Concerned that Glip isn't as full featured as it should be.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the feedback. The RingCentral desktop app does have the ability to send a fax. Go to the Phone tab (use the desktop app or Chrome browser) and click on the Phone tab. You'll see this:

Click on the fax icon to get the send a fax dialog:

@Tom Markworth

The original poster specifically, and repeatedly, referred to the issue being with the Glip app.....NOT the desktop app.

Why isn't this a feature built in on Glip release I have no clue, as it was already a feature in the old phone app. Please add functionality to send a fax from the glip app.

Hey Ben, our Product Team is actually working on getting this feature added, as Tom mentioned.

The team went ahead and added you to the Beta group :) You should be able to see the fax icon here

Wow, there it is, thanks!

So referring back to Jan and Tom's comments. This I've noticed as a new customer is an inherently bad side effect of people referring to the softphone/Glip/desktop apps all interchangeably, including RC support! It's really confusing to talk to support when you try to get them to understand you're talking about Glip, and they're talking about "desktop app", but what they really are talking about is Glip. Everyone needs to get on the same page about what these different applications are called.

Now that I have attention from Product people though. What is going to happen with the Softphone application? Is it going away or staying for ever and will continue to be enhanced and supported? I ask because Glip really isn't working for us as a unified communications platform. I want to switch users to Meeting and Softphone only, and find some other chat solution that is not Glip (for many reasons, many of which RC won't be able to resolve in time).

Thanks all,
Ben

Hi Ben, I understand the confusion. As time goes on, this will lessen (new habits take time).

The RC Phone app (softphone) will continue to receive updates and at this time is not set to be retired.
