Setting a temporary voice mail

Our previous phone system allowed us to create a temporary voice mail and set an expiration date. For example, if I'm going to be on vacation, I can set a temporary voice mail stating that I will be out of the office. I can set the date that the temporary voice mail will expire and it will automatically go back to my regular voice mail. It's nice not to have to remember to change your voice mail back when you return from being out of the office.

Every time I change the VM greeting for my box or the main box I lose my 'standard' message.  There should be an option to make a temporary greeting, like if you'll be out of the office for a day or part of the day, then with one key you can get your standard message back.  Other systems have this, including my Verizon voicemail.  This would save a LOT of time re-recording the same thing, over and over.

You can already do this by using IVR prompts.  Under the company auto reception options there is a "prompts library" where you can store multiple recordings.  Then you just need to have your user extension get forwarded to an IVR prompt that has no press options (or whatever you want).  Then you can change the IVR prompt currently in use to any of the ones in your library without loosing your primary one.   This works great for the main company greeting, but is only a work-around for branch or location greetings because those non-admin users will not have access to the IVR options to change them easily - an admin user will always have to change the prompts.

What is needed, is for a ext user to be able to select from the "IVR prompts library" for their currently set user-ext prompt  OR allow user extensions to have each their own prompts library.

This can be done by simply creating a custom rule on your extension. The path will be Users > Select Extension > Call Handling & Forwarding > OR Settings > Call Handling & Forwarding > Then Select Advanced > +Add Rule. Name the Custom Rule > Called Number (Select Extension Direct Number, You can also specify date/time > Select Take Messages Only > You can then record or upload your greeting. The rule basically can be turned on/off or you can specify the date/time the rule applies.
