Hello Brian,

I don't know of any plans to support this on any Cisco phones. At this time the only phones that support the Shared Line feature are:  Polycom desk phones: 321, 335, 550, 650HD, VVX-310, VVX-410, VVX-500.

I would also like to request shared line support for Cisco phones, SPA525G2 in particular please.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why are shared lines only available on Polycom phones?.

I find it odd that the shared line feature is only available on Polycom phones.

Other voip providers seem to be able to supply traditional 2/4/6 line service resembling physical pbx systems, so why can't RC?

If the infrastructure is the limitation, perhaps there should be a point at which RC looks at the bulk of feature requests that have been made and there is a realization that some features need revamping.  If RC would take a step back and fix the structure then many of these requests would be solved.

Honestly, if RC could create a true virtual pbx system they would rock.  Their service is generally great and they could dominate the field if they would get up to speed with a realistic look at business needs.

Any update as to when we can use the advertised standard shared lines feature on Cisco devices?
How can you recommend Cisco devices, particularly the SPA525G2 on the front of your website when they're not fully supported by RingCentral?  I'd like a technical explanation as to why this isn't supported and not just a scripted cookie cutter response from Mike 'the official rep'.

I'll add to this - would definitely like to use shared lines for our Cisco SPA508G and 504G phones. Would be VERY helpful. Any idea if this is even in the dev queue ?

Hi Reisner,    Sorry we can't give any ETA on this feature request.  We are not ruling it out, but, I'll be honest in that we receive dozens of feature requests daily via this Community, telephone conversations, the product feedback tool built into the softphone etc.  So, our product team has a pretty large list of items to consider. There is of course a prioritization process that all these features have to go through.  The best way to get an item moved up the list is to keep voting  on these threads, and when a idea/feature request is submitted, try to use the format/template provided.  The more information and valid use case scenarios that we receive the more consideration an idea will receive.

FEATURE REQUEST TEMPLATETo help our Product Team understand your request and assure it gets more consideration, please include the following details in your request:
  1. Account type  (U.S., Canada, UK,  AT&T, Telus, BT)
  2. A brief description of the business
  3. A high level description of the product or feature being requested
  4. A typical use case scenario explaining how your business would use the feature
  5. Benefit of such feature
  6. Include any related case number if applicable
