SUMMARY

Signal numbers as Caller ID's which are not numbers registered with Ring Central.
Many other Cloud Phone Services offer this, for example with Twilio I can signal my mobile number without problems when I place a call via the Twilio API.

USE CASES

1) Make phone calls with RingCentral but showing the caller my personal mobile number, because that's the number he has in his phonebook and most probably he won't answer numbers he doesn't know.

2) Make phone calls with RingCentral showing Caller ID's where you don't have local numbers, after all you only have numbers in 75 out of 180 countries worldwide. And you don't have local mobile numbers for most countries. Specially in developing countries often calls to mobile are free where calls to fixed lines are not. So customers most likely will call back to a mobile number.

3) Switching from a existing system to Ringcentral is much easier because you can already place calls using the old CID (before the porting happened) and just forward the calls to Ringcentral.

COMPLEXITY

It seems to be rather easy we would just need to be able to add more numbers to our phone directory.

Hey Philipp, are you looking to spoof numbers?

No, not spoofing numbers. Using numbers I own with RingCentral. Verifiying for example with a call back or so.
Eg for skypeout I can use every number I like, I just have to verify first that I own this number.

I can see where some may find it useful. I'm not in charge of which features get implemented, unfortunately.

Great you can see this. Can you please let me know who is in charge of which new features get implemented?

That would be our Product Team - and there are many members. They regularly check the Community for feature requests that our customers post

I would also like to have the ability to spoof the outbound caller ID. Most of the other cloud VoIP vendors have this feature.

Our company is new to Ring Central and we are also looking for a call masking feature where our outbound calls would look like they were dialed from our local branch phone numbers. We were able to accomplish this with our previous carrier but have been informed that this is not an option when using a Polycom phones. It worked with the softphone but not Polycom phones.
