We are not able to call out using Germany Digital Number. It always use the RingOut Feature instead of Direct Dial.

Hello Helmut,

In order to do a Direct Dial from the softphone, you have to have a digital line assigned to the softphone. Now, almost all Users get a free Digital Line assigned to a softphone if you have a Digital Line assigned to a desk phone. Meaning, basically, that if you have a physical phone you get a free softphone.

One of the very few exceptions to this rule is for a German User. Because of Germanies address validation rules for VoIP phones, we cannot give a free Digital Line to the softphone. We have to validate a physical address for the phone which cannot be done on a free DL for a softphone.

In order for a German User to have a physical phone and a softphone that allows them to do a direct dial, you will have to purchase another full digital line and assign it to a softphone for each and every User. Unfortunately, this means that you will have to pay for 2 full Digital Line for each German User you want to have a phone and a softphone.

Thank you,

Hi Nathan,

And thanks for your answer, this makes sense. When I talked with the support person earlier he mentioned support for this will be added in next release - is this information now wrong? Also seems that in their mobiles in Germany, direct call out is present: "Always use VoIP" in call out options. Is this a different case what it is with Windows App?

Thanks,
Helmut

We just ported over our Munich, Germany office to RingCentral. All of the users have soft phone only (RingCentral for Desktop), and each has a Global Office digital line assigned and the Emergency Address properly completed. They are still limited to Ring Out for outbound calling, so the explanation offered above must be incorrect. Can someone from RingCentral engineering please clarify why this is and if there is any way to remove the restriction?

Hey Jeff,

Can you share one of the extension numbers so I can take a look at their settings to get a full understanding? I'm not aware of any changes to what Nate spoke of earlier.
