Increase Meeting Attendee Capacity on Standard Plans

Recently 'all' plans received a bump in capacity for Meetings attendees. Standard plan users were left behind on this though. While the upper plans are going to 100 or 200 attendees, Standard is left with just four. In what world is four attendees sufficient for a business meeting? I would love to offer this for clients but need a minimum of six attendees to do so. Why do standard plan users not get any additional capacity to make the platform useful? We pay hefty amounts for using the service and receive constant promotions for how amazing Meetings is. Yet it's intentionally handicapped unless we pay for a Premium or Ultimate plan.

Why has RingCentral deemed Standard users to be unworthy of this service?
I have reached out to our account manager, support, sales, and now through the webinar. No one seems to have an answer - they pass me off to one another and refuse to discuss it.

2018-04-24 I am hoping the product manager logs in here and can address your request.

It is a very poor customer service choice for RingCentral to limit to 4 persons allowed per meeting session.

What business has a meeting with 4 people in it?

I think it should be 10 people as a minimum, but I don't get a vote on that.

Fully agreed. I think it's ridiculous to have such a massive gap - asking for 10% of the capacity of the next plan isn't asking too much. I'd be perfectly happy with 10.

Them all ignoring the question (I have put this to at least four reps in different departments) leaves me quite bitter.

I can understand your frustration, I am hoping the product team in charge of RC Meetings will not be ignoring the question.

Hey Taylor,

We appreciate your feedback and I completely understand the frustration! I received the following information from our Meetings Team:

To address this need, we offer Large Meetings as an additional license that can increase participant size limit to 100, 200, 300, or 500. Your account manager or our customer support can share more information. Specific individuals within your organization can now get more video collaboration capacity with Large Meetings while keeping your team on the lower-priced Standard Office plan.

Saadet, first thanks for taking the time to respond.

I am well aware of the meeting licenses available for all plans. However, I have no interest in spending hundreds of dollars per year on top of the thousands we already spend for the phone package through RC.

One of these packages would take us from a measly four participants to over 100 - 10x as big as we would reasonably need on a regular basis. As a quick example, the lowest package of 100 participants is $536/yr, plus taxes. This is almost equivalent to the cost of two additional lines, just to have a feature that the (apparently more important) customers on the premium plans have by default.

My request is not for a match of 100, or even 50 compared to the other plans. I think it's fair to say that 10 participants is a reasonable number.

You may wonder why I take so much time in advocating for this; I have had countless arguments and disagreements with our various account managers, support staff, sales, etc. over the years of being RC clients when speaking about several issues or problems that we have experienced. They all say that nothing can be done, or nothing will be done. To be honest I'm tired of that answer. We get told to go complain or post ideas on the forums, only to be answered by other disgruntled clients. Dozens of votes on years-old ideas, with several posts of people refusing to sign up with RC, or actively leaving the company because some critical features never seem to go into development, makes no difference.

A more meaningful response would be appreciated; responding to my reasonable question with (effectively) a sales pitch is far from good customer service.

2018-05-03  Taylor - you make good points in your outlay of the situation.

I am working to also elevate this specific discussion through engineering channels at RC to get the message across that 4 users is not a workable practical cutoff point for the concurrent members in a meeting allowance.

I am urging them to get a Product Manager to weigh in here on the Community Forum and discuss their rationale for setting that number of users at that point.

Stay Tuned.
