I am looking for a solution for syncing or propagating contacts manually entered into the Ring Central online contacts to my cisco ip deskphone. I entered all our contacts online and expected my phone to then show those names in the caller id on my deskphone. Instead, all my phone shows is the incoming number - no name/caller id. I'd really like to see the name of who is calling before I answer, not just the number. From what I can find, the only way to get contact names to show up/caller id for incoming calls is to manually re-enter those same contacts into the cisco ip deskphone itself. Which would be a painstaking, inefficient task especially given that names must be entered T9 texting style. Are there any alternatives for getting contact names to display when they call us? Help is appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds as it you have the Office Standard Plan, as it does not provide inbound Caller ID names. Both the Premier and Enterprise Office plans provide this functionality. While neither of them will import contacts from online to your phone, they will show the name of the caller.

You don't state which Cisco phone you have but I believe some models will allow you to import your contacts via Bluetooth or removable hardware. Don't hold me to the wall on that (I have a Cisco 303 which doesn't allow that) but I am pretty sure I read that in some of the features of the various phones.

Thank you for your suggestions. I also have a 303. I know about the caller id service, which we opted not to pay for since we thought we could simply enter in the contacts we needed, with correct names and tags, etc for our reference.

Mainly I am concerned with transferring the contacts already entered online to my Cisco IP 303 deskphone.

The calls and numbers already sync, so it seemed a natural progression (which means it probably isn't since I am no techno-sage) that perhaps names could also be transferred. But perhaps this is only a one-directional sync from the deskphone to online. Still, a pretty big gap for RC that significantly dampens its usability. But thank you for your insight, I appreciate your help.

Yeah, they don't sync but this would be huge if Ring Central could make this happen.  Not ideal, but you could go to your IP address of your phone through a web browser and import them in bulk that way.  Before I moved to a softphone only, I had a Cisco SPA 525g2 and that's how I would do it. Not ideal, but better than manually entering.

Sorry, as stated above, it's not possible at this time. There is a company contact sync process for the Polycom phones, but not Cisco. Therefore I changed the topic type of this thread from a Question to an Idea so that it gets seen/considered by our developers.
