Is there a way to send a system wide alert to the office or by groups?
Maybe an alert sound like the Star Trek warning sound, or a message?
This would be used in an emergency situation like fire, angry customer, etc ...

Can I setup a couple of extension number designated only for alerts?
Then when that extension is dialed, an automated tone is sent to all phones or a department?

So a good example would be to have an extension setup up where all phones were part of it and ring simultaneously
Then when a call to that extension is made all phones ring. You may be able to then adjust the ring tone to something different so people know it is an alert
You could then assign that extension to a button using presence for the one button touch.
Make sense?

I have setup an extension and also a department. I cannot make the phone ring with a different ring tone when that extension or department is dialed.

You can, with the Cisco, just need to get creative.
You need to assign a ring tone to a specific inbound caller ID number
This is on the phone it self
Then when the call is made the phone will see that number and use the other ring tone.
Test first but I have done this before
you have to be comfortable with logging into the phone though.

I don't see the option on the phone or logged into the ring central account to make the phone ring tone different just from a certain extension.

You may also be able to add all those users to a paging group...

good thought, when this thread started the paging group was not released.
