Is DDoS attack plaguing the internet starting to affect RC service?  We're starting to have issues here on NYC now.

Users were on the phone and all calls suddenly dropped.  This didn't just happen at our office.  Happened at all offices (4 altogether).  All offices are in NYC.  Incoming calls would not ring at the desk phone but would ring on the app.  Unable to pickup incoming calls through the app.  Just got dead air.  Seems to be working now but I figured I'd ask if anyone experienced anything similar.  Phone service had been fine all day.

Thanks for the details. Can you clarify were you getting calls on the desktop app, or the mobile app?  Are the deskphones on the same network as the desktop app (softphone)?

They are on the same network.  Same gateway.

This might be related. Our engineers are still collecting data, but we are starting to see some issues reported.

10/21/16 - 12:45 pm MDT: Our engineers are aware of the DDoS attack occurring. This is having a significant impact on internet traffic in many areas.  Our engineers are monitoring this closely and we'll provide any updates if necessary.  

What is a DDoS attack?

Some users have reported failures in sending SMS messages.Users are receiving the error “Message cannot be sent at this time”.    Users with this issue can open a case. Please copy the following into the case notes and title:   Parent case 05109874 CT-18209

Is this causing voicemails to not send notifications (voicemails, faxes etc) via email?

Hi Store ,  It's very possible that this could disrupt delivery of email. DDoS attacks can definitely impact email servers also.   One thing you might try is changing the email address to something different ie gmail instead of yahoo to see if they come through. Also inquire with your email provider to see if they are seeing issues as well.
