Can you tell me if these phones have the ability to transfer calls directly to voice mail. It seems like Transfer *0 (extension) transfer does not work with the Yealink T42S and the T46S. Can someone tell me if this is possible with these phones and if so how do we do it?

Hello Kent,
I did testing and the only way I could make it work is as follows:
1. While on a live call, press the transfer key.
2. Dial the destination extension number and remain on the line. (Destination user extension MUST have a user greeting and/or audio while connecting enabled).
3. Once the user greeting or audio while connecting is heard, dial pound (#).
4. The voice mail greeting of the destination extension is heard at this point.
5. Hang up -OR- press the transfer key in order to connect the transferred party through to the voice mail of the destination extension.
Hope that helps!

I wanted to update an easier workaround for transferring directly into a Voicemail with the YeaLink T46S phone.
I created virtual extensions with no options under Call Handling and with Messaging pointing to the main Ring Central extension. You do need to record a greeting under the virtual extension.
1. If the user John Smith is under extension 101, I created a virtual extension John Voicemail at extension 201.
2. Turn off all Call Handling options
3. Under Messages and Notifications select extension 101 as the Message Recipient.
4. Record a proper Custom Greeting
5. When a transfer to VM is required simply complete a normal Transfer to the new Voicemail extension.
This did not require us to tie up the 2nd line on the reception phone and after setup require no waiting or key assignments to remember.
Hope this helps!
