We would love it if there was a way to transfer voicemails from one extension to another.  Can the engineers work on implementing this?

This is already a feature. When you want to send a voice mail to someone else's ext - just follow the prompts

When you are listening the message, Press 5 and then the extension # who will receive the message.

Oh my goodness!  Thank you gentlemen!  Customer support said that it was not yet a feature on RingCentral

Sorry, for the confusion or miscommunication. When using a deskphone, you can do as Claudio & Rob mentioned.  Option 5 will allow you to enter an extension. However if you are using RC Desktop, you can't simply transfer the voicemail, but you can download the mp3 and email it to someone.

This definitely should be an idea for RC Desktop SoftPhone, features should be equivalent for both devices. Let's simplify the life of the customers! (Of course the Softphone could handle more features than a rigid Deskphone, but at least should be contain the same functionalities...)

Please LIKE in the upper right corner if you would like to see this feature added: to have the ability to fwd vm's from one ext to another via the Softphone Desktop App.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Transfer voicemail to a different extension.

I can't be the only person in the world that delegates or needs to transfer voice mails.  Why isn't there a way to forward a voicemail to another extension when using the Ring Central for Windows app?  I use the app exclusively to check voice mails but I can't forward them to my staff.  Any suggestions?

I agree.  There should be an option to transfer the VM to another user with a click or two.

I agree, this would be very useful.  I have about 60 messages saved at any time, and if I accidentally save the message through my desk phone, I would have to cycle through every message until I heard it again to forward to an extension.  If I could send it from the desktop app, it would save a lot of time.

Yes please add this functionality. When I get a voice mail on my cell phone, it gives me an option to transfer it to another phone number, the RC softphone should offer the same functionality.

Downloading the voice file and attaching via email violate HIPAA secuirty and privacy rules. So in my business (medical) we cannot do that. Xfering VM is a must have feature. Thansks!

We really need the ability to transfer a voicemail.  As Choudhuri pointed out, we can not email a message as it would violate HIPAA.

Is this still not possible? We are new to RC and really need to be able to transfer voicemails to other extensions.

Hello WALTON,

We have not received an ETA on if/when this feature may become available. If I do hear something, I will update this thread :) If you are not HIPAA compliant then the workaround is to email the VM attachment.

I guess the more interesting question is, how is this not available?  I asked this same queston over 2 years ago and received the same response you gave.  Yet, nothing has happened.  With the advent of Glib, this should be even easier.  Why can I just message them the voicemail.  We don't want the messages sent via email.

Hello Group,

We get dozens of requests daily and currently have well over 1,000 open feature requests here on the Community.  There is a constant planning and prioritization process going on and of course our Product Team must direct resources to the features that help the most users. Rest assured they do read the comments here so it does help to always include a use case scenario and explain the impact/benefit to your business.

William,

There is no list of people wanting any particular feature. You voted above and that indicates that you want this feature.

I think there was answers to this being able to be done by pressing 5 while listening to a message and another option for transferring via the desktop as well. Right Mike?

Yes, but the main request is to be able to transfer the voicemail from within the desktop app.  Although there's an option that lets you download/save it to your desktop, you still have to email it or send it via Glip or some other method. This works pretty well, but I do agree, and think it would be nice to have an option right in the app.  Unfortunately there's still no ETA.

I am sure many of Ring Central clients are physicians offices in the US. They all face the same problem. It is a HIPAA violation to download the voice mail and attach it as an email.

Ring Central has had this request for a long time, but nothing seems to come of it!

AS you noted, this is possible, but it is more complex than just transferring it via the Desktop app.
Also, the receiving individual has to remember to look in the folder to which it was dropped - doubling the chances that it will be missed.

I appreciate everyone's input and insights, but you're kind of missing the point.  As users, we shouldn't have to have work arounds.  There should simply be a click option to transfer the call.  Seemingly, every office phone system created in the lase 25 years has had this option.  Other VOIP systems have this option.  But for some reason RingCentral can't figure out how to code in to their app how to make this happen.

Thanks you for stating this as clearly as possible! It is a basic function. The Ring Central desktop app allows you to transfer a call. It should allow you to transfer a voice mail to another user in the office.

My cell phone does it!

Once I saved a message I meant to forward to another extension, and realized that the only way to get back to it on my desk phone was to go through all my saved messages.  There was no way to forward it through the desktop app.  My workaround was to go to the desktop app, and mark the message I meant to forward as unread, so that I could again quickly listen to it through my desk phone and forward the message from there.

I know it is a workaround and not an ultimate solution, but this may help someone that has run into this issue before.
This seems like such a basic feature, how is it not implemented?

Keep this thread alive.   This is a highly desired feature among my customers.
