Option to unlink Phone messages and Glip.

  3. Option to unlink Phone messages and Glip. So that we do not receive multiple notifications when we receive a text or a call. 

  4. Allowing users that do not want Phone calls and messages to turn them off in glip

  5. Keeping glip clutter free and allowing users more customization.

2018-08-24 We have Glip access disabled throughout our entire organization because it is not compliant with our organization's security protocols. 

There is

*No Administrator level message-moderation of outgoing messages to all members of the organization and

*No provision to make attachments malware and anti-virus scan-able.

*No ability to prevent non Administrators from creating Project Teams

How we achieved this was via Custom Roles in the Service Web and ever user who is not a SuperAdmin has Glip disabled,. but that option is presently only available to certain account levels.

Ask your Customer Account Manager about this option.

Cecile, curious if you have requested these features concerning Glip security from Ring Central? Our company has expressed interest in additional security for Glip as well.

Yes any search about Glip and Security will bring up the many times I have posted about this specific topic. The former founder of Glip told me at last year's conference ( after RingCentral had bought Glip) that they had no plans for Glip to get these features. Any Enterprise network needs better management controls than offered in Glip. Any user can send whatever unfiltered content they choose to all other members in an entire organization.

That feature is already turned off, but the texts are still showing up on the side and cluttering the conversation tab

2018-08-28   the texts you mention, may be getting through because the Business SMS is still enabled,   

You can disable this also through Custom Roles if your account is provisioned to accommodate Custom Roles.    

You can just edit your Custom Role that you had created to disable Glip, and  UNCHECK  the  Business SMS feature as well.

Would that turn off all SMS because we still need to them to be able to text we just do not want the texts to show up in glip. just the RC phone app

I am fairly sure that would prevent all texts for that Role, but that "was" our goal).

I do not think you can set any of RingCentral's different products to isolate delivery to one (like the RingCentral desktop app   versus just to Glip)   

Others with more knowledge and experience about this will surely chime in here....

Correct, if you disable SMS like Cecile was mentioning, it shuts it off fully.

Right now there is no way to disable the SMS within the RingCentral (Glip) app but this is something that the Product Team is discussing and will give me more information later, as they iron out the details.
