1) US (But i would think it would be useful anywhere)
2) Fintech
3) Allow admins to change the email a user uses to sign in with without deactivating the user or risk losing their conversation history
4) A user has an email address John.Doe@company.com. Employee gets married and they change their last name becoming John Slow. As an admin i should be able to update their profile to reflect the name change, especially in cases where single sign-on is used and the user's id is tied to an external source.
5)This would all but eliminate the risk of users losing conversation history because of a life event. This also allows users if they move within an organization that  has different email addresses.
6)06939574 ,06867444
7) ~70

Can't speak for SSO but I'm certain you can already do this by just updating the users details from within the users profile within the Admin portal?

I'm not sure what admin portal you are referring to.

Super Admins will have access to every user within their company. They can update the user details from the Users > User List tabs (then searching for the relevant user).

Oh you are referring to RC. I was referring to glip. When i made a change to the user's email in RC, it changed the user to be the randomtext$newemail

Matt,  I just heard back from one of our Glip specialists. There was recently an enhancement made so that when you log into the RingCentral Web Portal and make the change, it should carry over to glip.  I'm assuming the Glip account is one associated with a RingCentral subscription, and not a Free Glip account with no connection to RingCentral.

If this is the case and it's not working, give us a call or open up a support case so someone can look into this for you.

@david:All good. I looked around thinking i was blind.
@mike: See the two case numbers referenced. When the change was made to the RC email it added a string of jibberish in front of the email and that only appears in glip. I am unable to delete it either.

Hey Matt,

Please open a new case (since the others have been closed) so we can investigate this. It shouldn't be displaying like that so we want to get this fixed for you!

This happens to me every time we try to make changes at the company (we have a lot of turn over). Basically, if you make a change in RC, it is going to change something in Glip. It's pretty annoying, I wish they would turn off the automatic checking that Glip does with RC.

If you change the name in RC, it will create a new user in Glip with a garbled email address. You will have to manually re-name this account and transfer all their tasks. OR you have have the employee change their name in Glip themselves and I think it should work. But then their RC account will be wrong.

If anyone knows a clean way to transition users, please let me know.

I am not buying a new extension each time we have staff turnover. We have 5 extensions and only 3 permanent staff. If someone is taking over someone else's role, I should be able to transfer everything seamlessly; not transfer tasks one by one to a new user because their email address is different. But I understand now that Glip was originally meant for RC only and they likely would never re-assign an extension.

There's no need to buy a new extension every time. You would simply remove the old extension, the Digital Line attached will then be moved to your Unassigned User section, and then you would create a new extension. This would not be changing your billing in any way. If you need help, Support would be more than happy to walk you through it :)

What would happen in Glip if I move an extension to unassigned?

Hey Operator Extension, removing the User as I mentioned would remove them from Glip as well. So you would want to conduct an Audit on that User's profile before removing them! Same thing goes for the info on their RC Extension. Always best to download Call Logs, Recordings, VMs, etc. beforehand.

See, the way we want to use Glip is to transfer a whole department from one staff to another BUT we use names as email addresses so the email addresses change every time we get new staff. But we need them to take over all the tasks of the last staff. Transferring tasks individually is tiresome.
