User Extension and Deskphone?

Here is a scenario. Our office has 3 digital lines, and 4 work stations. It is my understanding that:
there is only one direct digital line assigned to a user or a user extension and a desktop phone. I definitely don't need 4 digital lines for 4 users and 4 desk phones. What i want to achieve is: i was wondering if i can add a phone number which is $60/ year or something instead of another phone user which is $419/year, and assign it to an existing user extension but to a brand new desk phone. I briefly heard that it was feasible and it's called a hybrid line. Please let me know. Thank you!

You can add a separate phone with it's own number for any user. The additional phone line is ~5/month. YOu would then want to update their call handling to achieve your goal, so the calls ring as you intend to one phone or the other, or both, or in sequence..

You might also consider using hotdesk phones and just have your three users log in wherever they are working, depending on your needs.

Hi Elyse,
Thank you for your response. I think we are on the same page. For the additional phone line which is $5/ month, i can assign it to a brand new desk phone? Do you have specific instruction how to do this? I was told by the technical support team that the additional $5 phone line can only be used over the ringcentral app or online, not on a deskphone. It has been a struggle trying to set up the ringcentral phone system. Unfortunately, i've been given conflicting information.

Actually I'm probably wrong about the price depending on the exact specifics of your setup- :o sorry to get your hopes up there.

If you just need another direct number to reach the user that's $5 line. But if you're trying to add a phone with separate number and routing, you would be looking at a digital line.

You can add a phone or number for the user in the Phones and Numbers section of their profile,

I wonder if the hotdesk would be a better solution for you. The hotdesk phone It's hard to know without more detail on what you're trying to accomplish, workflow wise.

Thank you Elyse!
Here is the situation. I currently have two staffs, one sits at workstation A, and another one sits at workstation B, and the desk phone is at work station A. Both workstations are using/sharing a digital line (A) under one direct number, one extension, and one user. I definitely don't need to add another digital line so workstation A and workstation B can have their own digital line and desk phones. I want to add another desk phone to workstation B, so the person at work station B can be reached and or make an outgoing call in case the work station A's phone is being used. I don't want to convert the digital line to a shared line, then we can't use the online app. Currently, all incoming calls are being handled by the front receptionist desk and if the front receptionist is busy, workstation A will need to answer the incoming calls from the main number. Ultimately, I want both workstations A & B to answer calls if the receptionist is busy without having to pay for another digital line at workstation B. I hope i was clear :-)

Would you please elaborate more about the hotdesk and how does it work?

I greatly appreciate your feedback and time.
