Or allow us to customize the order we want our devices to be used in.

Why is  user, call handling and forwarding so the "softphone and smart phones" is hard coded to be rung first before the other devices. Softphone should be separated smart phones and allow the user to determine the order.

Allow us to customize our call flow for each device: desktop app, smartphone, and hardphone.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Move desktop phone to number one spot in order.

Under User Settings/Call Handling & Forwarding you can select to accept incoming calls in order by your preference. But I cannot move the Desktop app & Smartphone app from the number one spot. We would prefer to have our Polycom desktop phones ring first and then the app

I think this feature (that is still a "request") needs to be bumped back to the forefront.

We're mid-deploy with RingCentral and already users are surprised by this lapse in functionality, myself included.

It's also unsettling that the only official responses (minus merging this thread with others...amplifying its desire) thus far have been "Sorry" and "we don't have an ETA."

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Allow a delay setting so that Desktop App can ring before Mobile App.

Specifically, the Desktop App needs to be treated separately from the Smartphone App.

Ideally, it would be best if software would know if you were active on the desktop app or not, and forward to your mobile app (assuming you were logged in and open to receive calls) if you were idle.  Slack does this beautifully.

However, the easiest way to do this currently would be to allow users to set their desktop app to ring for a certain amount of time, then forward calls to their smartphone app.

As it stands right now, if I stay logged in to both the desktop app and the smartphone apps, I get calls in both places.  This is quite annoying.

i just want to make my deskphone ring before my mobile app. a second layer to that onion would then be, the apps should be separated, i shouldn't have to have my desktop app and smartphone app ring together unless i ask for it. i'd assume the answer to this will be " it's not on the roadmap" or something to that effect. Again the request for this is so old and seems rather normal so i'm not really sure why there's not a more solid answer given but here we are. All we can do is keep asking about it and bring it up every so often to shake the cage.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Call forwarding: Desk phone first before Desktop application.

Hi, It would be nice if there will be an option inside the user's Call Forwarding settings to have their desk phone to ring first before their application or soft phone. It would be easy for the user to select their preferred call forwarding settings. Thank you.

Wow!  3 Years and no official answer on this obviously needed feature.  Please add our company to the list of those who would value this ability.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Call Forwarding to softphone - additional options.

1- U.S.

2- Tech production focused on events and esports

3- Currently the only call forwarding option for softphones is an on/off and exclusively as the first option in the sequence.  This is limiting.
The request is to have a user's softphone as an option available for addition later in the sequence just like any other phone number.

4-  I would like to have any of our account's users' desk phones ring first, if not answered then to ring that users' softphone.

5-  This feature provides more versatility to features already available

6-  06130584

7-  currently 5 users on our account

I would also like to comment. I administer RingCentral for our organization of a few hundred users. I have gotten quite a few requests for this feature - being able to ring the desk phone, desktop app, and mobile app separately and ordered according to user preference.

My personal experience -
The mobile app takes a second or two to stop ringing once you pick up the desktop phone, and it's irritating to have to listen to it ring while you're trying to answer a call. Also, I don't need my mobile app ringing when I'm sitting at my desk in the first place. It's a backup for when I'm out on the floor and I don't pick up my desk phone. Finally, forwarding the call to my mobile number is a terrible experience having to press "1" to pick up the call is ridiculous, and when in the car, impossible. PLEASE fix this.

I think anything thats a "device" should be able to ring separately.
1. app
2. desk phone
3. soft phone

Chris, The more I find out about them, I don't think the softphone and Apps are considered a device. Unless they have a digital line associated with them.

Correct Lee. The ONLY "device" he listed was the "desk phone".

makes sense. They still need to be able to be separated whether there's a line on them individually or not. If I have my own DL why shouldn't I be able to make the physical phone ring before an app which wouldn't have its own number assigned to it?

I Agree Chris. If a softphone has a digital line associated to it then you should be able to control the ring order just like a physical phone. I think the problem is with the free softphones and mobile apps. I really don't want them to force all the softphones to have Digital lines to make this happen. lol.

Just another Ring Central premium customer requesting a simple feature...
Why would people want their cell phones to ring before their deskphone?

Yep. totally agree. I want to weigh in on this subject. I have a user who needs her phone to ring on her actual phone unit first and then her mobile app. Mobile app needs to be an option to add in later in the ringing order but it's not. You can only instruct it to go to your cell phone number and not through the app. This is a problem that definitely needs to be addressed.

Official Response
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to provide an update that our Product Team is planning to separate the Desktop and Mobile app options under Call Handling & Forwarding. This will allow you all to better customize your ring order. Currently they are targeting our 19.4 release. If for some reason they run into any issue and the release gets delayed, I'll let you all know :)
