Version Archive for Downloads Portal

I think that there should be a page similar to the RingCentral Downloads Portal page that holds older versions of the same apps (Meetings, Glip, Oulook Plugins, SoftPhone).

Many other successful companies have the older versions available on a page that also shows when the update was released. This would be beneficial to know when the update was released and the version number so things can be rolled back if need be.

We have also experienced issues where the Softphone will not allow you to update or uninstall (so that you can reinstall) unless you have a specific version. The current downloads portal only has the latest version and support will need to be contacted in order to get the correct version.

Support let me know that you can get to the other versions by altering the URL for their download to the correct version you will need.Ex: If you needed the 10.3.5 version you would simply change the 10.2.1. at the end to 10.3.5.

Benefits of such a feature:

1. Admins won't need to contact RC support for a trivial download.
2. If RC support emails the msi, these can get caught in email filters as it is just a plain link that downloads upon clicking on it. So it will be another step on the admin side to unblock/allow in a different program.
3. There will be glorious documentation for when the updates were live and handy links to download the needed version without having to whitelist auto-downloading links from an email.
4. RC won't have to worry about Admins or users guessing version numbers in their URL or the potential for clicking a harmful link because of a mistyped URL.
5. Admins can check the page periodically and download any needed versions to their own repositories instead of checking back not entirely sure of when the version has changed or users are requesting admin creds to update their apps.
6. RC can link version updates there too so users can see exactly what changed if they don't normally keep up on their emails about coming changes.

Software management overall is a huge opportunity for RC to improve with very little effort/cost and big impact on enterprise customers.
