Sometimes the voicemails go to the cell phone and sometimes they go to ringcentral voicemail.  we have bumped up the time settings on ringcentral should I turn off take messages.

If I turn take message off will this prevent voicemails from going through RIngCentral and go to the cell phone voicemail?

Hello,

Do you want messages to go to your cell phone? ... The only way calls wtih voicemail messages will be routed to a cell phone is if the "press 1 to connect" announcement is disabled and the amount of rings is increased high enough for the call be picked up by the cell phone voicemail.

  • If you don't want the messages to go to the cell phone, the you should leave the "press 1 to connect" prompt ON to keep the call + voicemail in the RingCentral system.   This can be found under Incoming Call Information > Play announcement before connecting > for non-rc phones only.
  • If you don't want the messages to go to the extension mailbox, then turn OFF the prompt (set to Never) and increase the number of rings on the cell phone to ensure the call is completely transferred over to your cell phone carrier.
Hope this is helpful, let us know

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How do I get calls to go to my mobile phone voicemail rather than my RingCentral ....

when someone calls the ring central number, I have it set to forward to my cell phone, however if I don't answer the cell phone the ring central voice mail answers and then I have to wait until I get an email or text with the voice mail attached, I would like to have my cell phone voice mail utilized instead of having the call go to the ring central voice mail. I tried playing around with more and less rings but nothing has worked?

try setting up a forward feature...  after so many rings if your desk doesnt pick it up, it will unconditionally forward to your cell.  the other option would be to use DND on your desk phone when you leave, so it would forward directly to your cell.
