Why must the Voicemail retrieval password be so long and complex?

I have to retrieve voicemail or turn off fax notification light many times during a day, but it seems that requiring such a complex password for simple voicemail is somewhat of overkill, as it adds a lot of time to the process as well as to almost always have to enter it twice because of inevitable mistakes trying to punch a phone a couple feet away on a desk. It really should be a 4 digit code. I use this too much and it's not a critical security issue. Voicemail on my cell phone is simple and I log into my iPhone with a 4 digit code.
Is RC planning on simplifying this?

I'm sure it's set at 6 number minimum for security reasons. If you are using a number greater than 6 digits you can change/shorten it.  This page has instructions if you wish to change it.

Thanks, but 6 is still too many for constant use.- especially with the non-repeating requirement. Voicemail is just not something that requires that kind of added security.  Would be best if they made it 4 to 8 instead of 6.

I can see how that would be a nuisance if you have to check it frequently. It seems like security settings are just increasing overall so It's unlikely they'll ever lower it, but we can sure see how much other interest there is from others.

Thanks, it's one thing to have a strong password to keep people out of an admin account. Voicemail, not so much. In this day and age, anything that can make our lives easier is so appreciated.
