Traveling to the Europe and Spain

My family and I are from and live in North Carolina, but typically live in a Spanish speaking country during the summers.  I also work while I'm abroad with my Ring Central handset.  I pack my desk phone in my suitcase and take it with me since we're down there for so long.  For the past several years, we've lived in Costa Rica for the summers.  I made sure I maxed out the bandwidth with the ISP and the latency has been around ~160ms to sip.ringcentral.com.  As a result, I haven't had any problems with call quality.

This summer, we're looking into going to Marbella, Spain.  While I can make sure we have good bandwidth, I'm very concerned about the latency with using my Ring Central handset while in Spain b/c of the latency.  If the latency was ~160ms from Costa Rica, I would expect it to be higher from Spain, which could possibly interrupt the call quality.  That would be a rather large problem for me and we might have to cut the trip short.

Does anyone have experience using a RingCentral handset from western Europe, specifically Spain?

Thanks very much!

Hi Tom,

You shouldn't experience any issues (connection dependent of course). RingCentral has data centers in both Amsterdam and Zurich. Based on how we have our infrastructure setup to route, your phone should automatically connect to one of those assuming you either purchased the phone through us or have a supported set type that is automatically provisioned.

Enjoy your time in Spain!

Hi Mike,

Would there be an advantage to taking a RingCentral phone to Europe?  Does it perform better than using a mobile or desktop app?

Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth,

There is no inherent advantage of taking a phone with you unless you simply prefer using a desk phone. All of our apps will register to our European data centres and traffic will flow the same.

Thanks very much for the reply.  I do like to travel!  Do you have a list of where Ring Central has data centers?  That would be very good to know.  I would be particularly curious about Central & South America.

Unfortunately at this time we only have 2 in the US and 2 in Western Europe that I already mentioned. We are working on creating additional ones, but I do not know the locations of them at this time.

I know this is an old post but I have been working from south america with good signal, either with my desk phone or app on my mobile without any problem
