End-of-life for PubNub and potential impacts to RingCentral Embeddable

On March 31, 2024, RingCentral's use of PubNub to power push notifications will cease, and any applications that have not migrated to WebSockets will no longer function properly. Apps built using older versions of RingCentral Embeddable are therefore at risk of being disrupted.

All developers are required to upgrade to RingCentral Embeddable 1.9 or greater.

Upgrading to the latest version of Embeddable could not be easier. Check out Embeddable's README to learn how to update your app seamlessly.

Please use a custom client ID

In our efforts to support developers in this upgrade, we discovered a large number of developers have not yet updated their Embeddable integration to use a custom client ID. This can be problematic for a number of reasons, but primarily because under high load, the actions of one user of one integration, could impact other users of another integration -- with little warning, or ability to diagnose or troubleshoot the root cause. Therefore, we have recently updated our guidance.

Usage of Embeddable without specifying a custom client ID is appropriate for demonstration purposes only. When using Embeddable in a production context, we strongly recommend developers to register their own app and to customize the client ID used by their instance of Embeddable.
