sending text to rc number from actual external phone

I am new here. So I my question may be very basic. sorry for that.

My question is, once sandbox environment is set I get a Ringcentral number which I can use for sending text sms message by creating application there. But can I send sms text messages back to Ringcentral number from an actual external phone.

If so, where can I use to see the message? Do I need to pull the API everytime to read messages.

What is the direct options?

Yes you can send any text messages to RingCentral number from actual physical phone.

You can use SoftPhone app installed your phone to check sms content send to your RingCentral number.

You can also use Desktop app installed with RingCentral account to check the content of received SMS.

Developer sandbox tools

Using the RingCentral Phone for Desktop, you can dial or receive test calls, send and receive test SMS or Fax messages in your sandbox environment.

Tip: switch to the "sandbox mode" before logging in the app:

  • On MacOS: press "fn + command + f2" keys
  • On Windows: press "Ctrl + F2" keys
