Remote Call Control Permissions: "VoIP Calling" vs "TelephonySessions"

Hi, I'm the product manager and lead developer for Promptar, a product integrating phone systems and applications like CRMs, ERPs, etc.

We've been exploring the integration with RingCentral and, so far, with the sandbox account and existing documentation, we're successfully tracking call events and associated call party numbers: inbound, outbound, etc. This is a fundamental aspect to support Promptar screen pops.

This question stems from the exploration of controlling calls from software: initiating, hanging up, holding/resuming, forwarding, transferring, etc. From our understanding, other than call initiation, supported via "RingOut" which we haven't tried yet, the other operations seem to be described under the "VoIP Calling [Beta]" section of the API explorer.

With that, we tried a simple operation, "Drop Call Session", only to get a CMN-401 response stating that the application needs the "TelephonySessions" permission. However, in our sandbox, all we can find is the "VoIP Calling" permission...

We're probably missing something that hopefully is obvious to someone else here. We understand the "VoIP Calling" API is clearly stated as "[Beta]", but having no way of adding the proper permission to our sandboxed app, we have no way of testing it out...

Thanks in advance for any pointers / clarification.

Kind regards.

Hi Tiago,

Please contact the developer support team to get the TelephonySessions app permission since the Call Control API is more like "closed beta" now.

Victor,

Thanks a lot for your quick feedback. I've contacted developer support and hopefully soon we'll be able to explore software based call control.

Regards.
