I saw this question being asked in a customer email thread and wanted to share it to help benefit all our developers...

How do I add Users / Extensions to the sandbox environment ( service web portal ) while we are developing apps in Sandbox Environment?

Why is there a $4.99 charge to add extensions now?

Sometimes we might not find numbers on a particular Area Code / State. Could you please lookup under CA, you can find some numbers:

Thanks AK,

Our problem is we can't seem to be able to add direct numbers. Each time we try, we get stuck at the number selection step. No matter which city and state we choose, there are never any numbers available.

By default, one User / Extension would be created in the sandbox, which defaults to 101 extension.

For additional users, you can add  up to 4 Users / Extensions to your Sandbox Online account

Adding Users / Extensions on Sandbox

You can add a New User with a phone if you need to buy one, or without a phone,if you already have the phone.

To add a virtual extension (no phone numbers) select add users without phones:

It will default to unassigned extensions.

To Edit User / Extension's Info

Step 1: In the Admin Portal, select Phones System > Users

Step 2: Select the Extension

Step 3: Select User Info

Adding Phone Numbers to Extensions newly created

Now that you have the Users / Extensions, you can assign Phone Numbers to these extensions ( as they are Virtual ). RingCentral provides two kinds of numbers to assign to extensions:
  • Digital Lines
  • Direct Number
Follow the links below to add Phone Numbers to the extensions:

Adding a Direct Number (KB 3135)
Adding a Digital Line (KB 3136)
