Salesforce Task assignment, log to an existing task?

So we are pretty happy with the Salesforce CTI integration with Ring Central, with one exception.

If a user is assigned a task in Salesforce to Call someone, and they do so, this actually creates a new task/activity log rather than have the ability to have the RC CTI app update and close the existing task.


Assigning work to people through automation is one of Salesforce's great strengths, but the RC CTI essentially forces double logging if you want to use the CTI to log the call.


Would love to see a way to choose to update an existing task in the CTI if it's on screen when the CTD is initiated.
