Setup

  • Polycom Trio 8800 (latest firmware, v.7.x.x.x)
  • Polycom Visual+ (paired with Trio 8800)
  • USB Logitech Web Cam (connected to Visual+)

The Polycom Trio 8800 is set in "Generic" mode with multiple lines available (1,2,3).

Question 1

Does anyone know if it's possible to set up RingCentral on Line 1 of the Polycom using a RingCentral Room Connector License?
Without going full RingCentral Room and installing the RC Android app on the Polycom.

This would allow me to then set up additional providers on Lines 2+3 (e.g. Zoom and MS Teams).

Question 2

If so, does anyone have the config I would need to add to the Polycom Trio 8800s CFG to apply RingCentral to Line 1?

Expected Behaviour

Basically, a user would enter the conference room - press Line 1, and it would connect and display the RingCentral Splash screen requesting the input of the meeting ID. On entering the Meeting ID the Video / Audio would begin as the conference room joins the RingCentral Meeting.

Thanks,

Curtis

PS Are RingCentral Rooms able to connect into Zoom meetings and vice versa?

Hello Curtis, It is not possible to set up a conference room for only 1 line. It needs to be configured to RingCentral to have full access. Check out this KB Article for the configuration https://support.ringcentral.com/article/setup-Polycom-Trio-RingCentral-Meetings-Rooms-Controller.html.

Thanks for responding Mary :)

Rather than go full RingCentral room, can I not provision RingCentral on a specific line and use their Room Connector License to dial into their Platform / Join RingCentral Meetings?

If not, what are the Room connector licenses for?

Could we set up a user (e.g. Room1) with a Phone and Video license and apply that to a specific line using the Room Connector License?

Thanks,

Curtis
