Password policy

It is frustrating when sites tell you how to create a secure password, when I have my own formulas for creating passwords that are easily memorable and next to impossible to guess (I've been on the Web since 1994 and not a single account of mine has ever been hacked to date). Being told I need at least one letter, one number, one symbol, one uppercase, one lowercase, I might as well be brewing a magical recipe for immortality. It's approaching absurdity.

I understand services want their accounts to be secure, but I don't think there is any evidence that adding further complexity to the password creation process is radically improving security, but rather increasing annoyance.
