Text messages constantly say you have a message or you have a text. Why can't they just show me the message?

When client sends a text to my office line (ring central), I get text message from service@ringcentral.com on my android cellphone saying "you have a new text message from: XXX-XXX-XXXX (clients phone number) to ME, received XX/XX/2020 at XXX PM" ... then it gives me first few words of the actual text.  I then have to exit my sms app, separately login into ringcentral app to find out what the text actually says.
I was hoping that when some sends me a text it would go to my text app, not another app sucking down memory on my phone.
