Email notification but no red light on phone

Occasionally, someone will receive an email notification of a received voice mail, but no red light appears on the phones. Sometimes, the email notification has preceded the voice mail red light by several hours and once it took over a day for the voice mail to make it to the phone. What is happening and how can it be resolved?

HI Linda,  Have you by any chance tried to just unplug/reboot the phone and plug it back in yet? 

I see there are several different phones & lines on your account.  If you are still having problems you may want to Open a Case and provide us with as much detail as you can including the phone number & phone model, dates and times that you have documented this happening.
