Feature Request :: Calling on physical phone with multiple Caller IDs

For those of us who have multiple phone numbers both digital & virtual (and a physical phone that can handle multiple extensions):

It would be helpful to have the ability to assign more than one “number” to a specific phone in the In the  ... Users/“USER”/Outbound Calls/Caller ID/By Phone section.

I understand that receiving direct calls to an extension requires setting up an entirely new direct line. I’m requesting a feature that gives us the ability to select which “Caller ID”/Number shows up on the receiver’s end.

Hey Steve,

This can be done currently, but just requires some configuration either done by support, yourself or whomever your IT contact is. I'm also just going off of assumptions you've outlined in your post, so there may be caveats but that just depends on how your account is setup.

Essentially, you can register multiple devices to your seats by using the same device. This would be done by configuring "other phones" and registering them to lines that are not in use on your phone. You would then change the outbound caller ID per "other phone" tied to your seat. This would appear as the label you assign to the phone via the device's web browser, and when making an outbound call on your phone you would first select the line you wish to use/show for outbound caller ID, and place the call. We have multiple companies configured like this and it works without issue.

Thanks for your input - I wish it would work for me.

When you say "registering" devices is this happening on the RingCentral Admin / Online side of things?

In the Admin menu, I tried adding a "new" device and received an error saying that I had already activated and setup all 1 phones with my plan.

When I chatted/called 2 different Ring Central "techs", they said it wasn't possible.

Maybe this requires a digital line and doesn't work with virtual lines?

I asked to speak to a supervisor (or someone with more advanced knowledge) of Ring Central's phone systems and was told those people don't exist!
