Feature Request - "Out To Lunch" Toggle

This is for a U.S. account.
The business is a large, multi-site medical company.
When setting up a new site, I create a "MAIN EXTENSION" for the site. This extension has the main phone number of the site and the calls are setup to ring to a group of phones designated as FRONT DESK1, 2, etc. As it sits now, when shutting down the office for any reason, they need to go into the After Hours section of the MAIN EXTENSION and either change the hours or set the day to CLOSED. When they come back, they need to log back in and change the setting back to "normal". My suggestion is that there be a toggle on the User Details page of the extension that when toggled ON, causes the extension to use the current After Hours settings. When they need the phones to ring again, they log back in and turn this toggle to OFF.

The benefit of this is ease of use. Most of my users are trained medical users and do not want to learn (or remember) how to go into the settings of an extension to make changes. This allows them to just log in and click a button. As an administrator, I would not have to worry about what changes are being made or having to answer questions about how to perform the function.

We have over 500 extensions at over 20 locations. So this would be a great feature for us.

Hey Tony,

As a workaround, have you looked at setting up an Advanced Rule? These can be turned on and off like you're wanting

I have. I don't want users in the "Hours of Operation" area, let alone in the "Advanced Rules" area of the extension. The whole idea is to make this an easy tool for the users. Most of them don't even change the hours because they're too afraid they're going to mess something up. So, when they go to lunch with the way the system is now, the calls just ring and ring and end up in voicemail.

Ah, gotcha. Curious, are your users using desk phones or the desktop app for Windows/Mac? They could switch themselves to Do Not Disturb on either and that would immediately route the call to voicemail. Simply an idea.

Voicemail won't work. Some centers need their calls to go to an answering service, some need their calls to go to our call center. The only option is to have a button that toggles the hours/after hours settings. All the toggle would do would be to set the extension to "CLOSED" and then toggle it back to "USER HOURS". That way, whatever the settings are on their particular site, the AFTER HOURS settings would take affect.
