Glip version vs Glip Desktop App version?

I've seen banners at the top of the Glip desktop app recently reading "Update Available," but my Desktop App version (Glip -> About Glip) continues to say v18.03.1.

Glip release notes appears to show later versions (18.04.x) released in April : https://www.ringcentral.com/releasenotes/RCGlip/enUS.html

Is there a difference between the Desktop App version and the underlying Glip version?  Uf sim where can we track the other version number?

Hey Rob,

I followed up with our Glip Team who mentioned that this "Update Available" message was made in error. 

Currently the most recent versions are as follows:

Glip Desktop Application: 18.03.1
Web Application: 18.04.26


They will also be updating the Release Notes as soon as possible.

Thanks, Saadet.  Does that mean that fixes/features in 18.0.4 are not fixed/available through the Desktop app?

Some of my users (macOS) are seeing a prompt this morning to elevate privileges to install a "helper app" for Glip.  This has created 60 calls to my helpdesk so far.

Some other users are seeing v18.0.5 already installed and were not prompted for the Helper App.  My guess is that these folks may have previously authorized the helper, whereas the majority of people had the Glip app installed via file copy through ARD.

Can you advise?  If the Helper App is required, I need a way to bulk/remote install it via ARD, not individually at each workstation.

Also the release notes don't show v18.0.5 at all.

Hi Saadet,

   The Glip Desktop PM got in touch with me.  We didn't get to the bottom of it.

   He told me to look out for the next update to Glip desktop which was due on 6/6 and we wouldn't have this problem again.  I haven't seen an update as of today (6/13)

   Looks like he's cutting down trees until 7/2, so is there someone else in the Glip group I should reach out to?
